I'm currently fighting a head cold caught over the weekend. It's inconvenient & tiring, but not life threatening. With the changes in temperatures this past week, it's easy to get one's body thermostat knocked out of whack.
We had our younger daughter's 4 year old b-day party on Sunday. She's a social butterfly. 16 kids came to the party, as well as 4 moms and 2 babies. Afterwards, a number of parents and siblings came over to have hors d'oeuvres & bday cake while picking up their kids.
My wife did a terrific job of coordinating the whole event. She does really well as the master of ceremonies. I did more of the organizational aspect, as well as handing the doorbell and taking photos.
We sensed a lot of prayer behind the day, as it went smoothly, despite all the kids. Relationships were strengthened and trust built. We'll have a number of follow up get togethers based upon the party.
My wife shared something encouraging with me. One of the mothers of a classmate of our son has gotten to see us in the course of the Saturday morning English club that her daughter attends, as well as at the Taste of California event for mothers. She commented that "It appears that you pretty much welcome any one into your home." My wife smiled and said that this was pretty much true. There are a lot of things that people could observe about us, but this is one of the things that we want people to notice. We want our home to be a place of peace, joy, fun & celebration.
Now it's time to get to bed.
