Earlier today (or now yesterday), we had our 4th Christmas cookie baking party. We ended up having 12 children from 6 different families. All the mothers except 1 stayed the whole time & helped, which made a huge difference in the atmosphere. Despite the large numbers, it was one of the calmest of our parties.
A N African friend came and helped. She's a former M* who now follows Jesus. Her coming was providential, as there were at least 2 woman from N African backgrounds, as well as another married to a man from that background. She had a chance to informally share her journey with several of them.
Another believing friend of Japanese heritage helped keep the party flowing, then helped with dishes.
In a few hours we'll be heading to our church, as my wife & I are both doing children's Sunday School. The lesson is on the Magi who brought gold, frankincense & myrrh as gifts to Jesus as a child. Our car is out of commission, so we'll be taking the bus.
Then it's back to school for the kids on Monday. Life will get back to our normal schedule then. It's been a good, but busy Christmas break.
